Qantas Is Selling Wine-Stocked Bar Carts From Retired Boeing 747 Fleet

|

In tantalizing news for people who enjoy a tipple as they travel, Qantas has started selling off 1000 bar carts. Stocked with 80 bottles of wine and champagne and a number of other items described as ‘certified goodies’, these highly desirable spirit carrying vessels were rescued by the airline from their retired 747 fleet.

As the planes make their way to retirement in California’s Mojave Desert, a number of assets have been stripped and sold. “There has been huge demand for Qantas 747 memorabilia,” says Phil Capps, Qantas Executive Manager of Product & Services.

The carts have significant human history attached to them – an estimated 15 million kilometres and over 2,000 flights each – mean the carts have played part in the memory, and perhaps drunken tales of many a traveller.

“…frequent flyers have expressed keen interest to convert the bespoke inflight trolley into everything from lampstands to storage units.” added Mr Capps.

If you want to get your hands on a wine-stocked bar cart from Qantas, it’s pretty simple. The cost is a mere $974.70 or 169,000 Qantas Points. And if you live in metropolitan areas in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth the delivery is free.

Items contained in each Qantas bar cart:

  • 40 x Mini-bottles of Australian red wine
  • 40 x Mini-bottles of Australian white wine
  • 1 x Bottle of Champagne
  • 2 x Qantas business class amenity kits incl. ASPAR Travel Essentials skincare products
  • 1 x Sheridan throw produced exclusively for First Class ( 100% combed cotton)
  • 2 x Pairs of Qantas Business Class pyjamas (M/L + L/XL)

However, if you want to upgrade your airline memorabilia you may opt to purchase one of the limited amount of full-size carts with double the items will also be up for grabs – priced at $1,474.70 or 256,000 Qantas Points. The Qantas bar carts can be purchased through the airline’s official web store.
