New Limited Edition Glenfarclas Stillmen’s Dram Whisky Will Raise Money For Food Bank

New single malt Whisky Glenfarclas Stillmen’s Dram is now on sale and part of the earnings from every bottle sold will be donated to Moray Food Plus, a food bank working to help combat food insecurity in the Speyside community. The Speyside distillery will donate 10% of sales of the limited edition 10-year-old single cask Whisky to the local food bank.

Originally, the Whisky was supposed to be unveiled as Glenfarclas’ exclusive bottling for the 2020 Spirit of Speyside festival in April, which was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The distillery partnered with London-based merchant BI Wine and Spirits to launch the Whisky.

Glenfarclas Stillmen’s Dram is bottled at 60.1% ABV and limited to just 658 bottles. It will be available for purchase starting July 16 via the BI website, and will cost £100 ($126 USD).

George Grant, Glenfarclas sales director and sixth generation family member, stated: “The impact of the pandemic has been widespread and has affected all in some form or another, so teaming up with BI to ensure the 2020 release was made available to those unable to make it up to the distillery in late April was an easy decision to make.

“The Moray Food Plus was an obvious charity to pick as the work that they do across the Speyside community is nothing short of outstanding.”

According to BI, “The nose compliments the effortless harmony between the Glenfarclas spirit and their mastery of the sherry cask. Notes of a baked apple and candied fruit bounce out of the glass and are complemented by notes toffee oak spice. Given a few moments in the glass, the nose develops and offers more of the sherry character we know and love with cinnamon spice and heather honey.

“The palate is just as complex as the nose and pits that rich sweet fruit against the sherried oak spice. Both dance on the palate and are joined by that inherent power we expect from 2000s Glenfarclas. Altogether one does not overpower the other though and we are left with a long harmonious finish full of sherry goodness.

“With a splash of water, the noses up and the candied nature of the fruit gives way to beautiful freshness. Notes of orchard fruit, some red apple, and hints of pear take centre stage, the cask now purely complementing the outstanding Glenfarclas spirit. Top marks!”
