Mr Fogg’s Apothecary Heads To Mayfair

Come June, Mr Fogg’s Apothecary will bring its alchemic delights to London. This will be the first opening from the team behind Mr Fogg’s, Cahoots, and Bunga Bunga in over four years. Opening in the heart of Mayfair, the Apothecary will showcase the vast array of potions and elixirs that Jules Verne’s most well-loved fictional character, Phileas Fogg collected whilst on his epic 80 day voyage around the world. Made from plants, powders, saps and antivenoms from all ends of the earth, “these are tonics and remedies Fogg swears by for every ailment imaginable and he couldn’t be more excited to share these with trusted friends and explorers,” says a press release.

Located on Brook Street directly opposite the iconic Claridge’s hotel, the elegant new venue will transport guests into Phileas’ wonderfully eccentric world. A grand staircase will lead guests down to an impressive long bar stocked to the rafters with this extensive apothecary collection, with precise weighing scales on hand to measure out the perfect cocktail serves.

The main drawing room is reminiscent of a Mayfair townhouse with grandfather clocks, large armchairs and sofas to create a comfortable space to encourage visitors to settle in for the evening. Portraits of Fogg’s most trusted scientists, botanists and pharmacists adorn the walls, along with other objects of curiosity and apothecary cabinets collected from his travels.

Mr Fogg will be serving a variety of concoctions, including ‘The Traveller’s Tonic’ a heady mix of Hennessy X.O. Cognac, Woodford Reserve Rye whiskey, Carpano Antica Formula vermouth, Grand Marnier orange liqueur and Mr Fogg’s Apothecary bitters whilst the ‘Rose Remedy’ will be an elegant gin cocktail which includes Secret Garden Apothecary Rose gin, Lillet Blanc wine-based apéritif, Apothecary shrub, rose water, lime juice and egg white.

With its own separate entrance is the Elixir Room which houses 24 Hennessy cabinets, each with their own unique key locks which will be gifted to lucky regulars to house their own bottles of spirits within. It can be hired privately but within the cabinet wall there is also a secret door into the main space. This cosy backroom has three large wallpapered booths which offer a perfect place to hide away and sample Fogg’s most restorative tipples.

Open Tuesday to Saturday, 4pm-midnight initially, Mr Fogg’s Apothecary will offer a truly comfortable and interesting space to be immersed in Fogg’s world.

It is located at 34 Brook Street, London, W1K 5DN. For more information or to make a reservation, head over to the bar’s official website.
