James Harden Invests In Tequila Gran Diamante

NBA star James Harden is the latest star to join the agave spirits world after investing in Tequila Gran Diamante. The amount of his investment was not disclosed.

“James is a great match for us because he is truly a Tequila aficionado,” said Rafi Hannouche, co-founder of Tequila Gran Diamante. “We were looking for someone who would not only invest in the company, but also be passionate about the products.”

Produced by Royal Ventures Group, Tequila Gran Diamante is made with 100% blue agave grown in the rich volcanic soil of the Jalisco Highlands in Mexico.

The Tequila Gran Diamante range includes a plata expression, which was rested for 23-25 days in stainless steel sealed vats;  a reposado, aged for eight months in French oak barrels; and an añejo, aged for 18 months in the same barrels.

The tequila is distilled and bottled by Compañia Tequilera De Arandas (NOM 1460), a distillery in Arandas, Jalisco, under the supervision of master distiller Gilberto Jasso.

The añejo is priced at $94.99 per 750ml bottle, while the reposado comes in at $64.99 and the plata costs $59.99, both also come in 750ml bottles.

The news follows the launch of comedian Kevin Hart’s new Gran Coramino tequila, created in partnership with the company behind Jose Cuervo.

Harden is not the first NBA star to step into the tequila world. In November 2020, Lebron James launched Lobos 1707 tequila and mezcal. Earlier this year, we caught up with Lobos 1707 Chief Creative Officer Diego Osorio to learn more about his roots in tequila and mezcal, find out what it’s like working with Lebron and Draymond, and discover what makes Lobos 1707 unique.

Still no word on if Tequila Gran Diamante plans to play any defense in the near future.
