Edinburgh Castle, in collaboration with the award-winning Edinburgh Gin distillery has launched a new gin.

Edinburgh Castle Gin is a small batch gin inspired by Edinburgh’s rich history and its gorse-clad spring landscape. the iconic attraction in the centre of the Scottish Capital

Pink grapefruit and yuzu bring sweet, tart notes to the London Dry, while bee pollen accentuates the floral flavours of the gorse; a vibrant yellow flowering plant at the core of the distilling process for this new gin, adding a fresh, coconut aroma. On the finish, pink pepper delivers a long-lasting kick of heat.

Edinburgh Castle Gin is available to buy from the Historic Scotland website.

In other Scottish Gin news, in April Eden Mill expanded its Distiller’s Choice collection with two limited edition gins aged in wine casks. In February of this year, the Scottish distillery launched Oak Old Tom gin as the inaugural release in its new, ultra-premium Distiller’s Choice range.

The new Red Wine Cask-Aged Gin and White Wine Cask-Aged Gin started out as Eden Mill Original Gin and were then aged in two different casks.”Created by Eden Mill’s senior distilling team, the new Distiller’s Choice line comprises modern gins that ‘embrace the best of old and new distilling techniques.” Eden Mill’s head distiller Scott Ferguson and senior distiller Andrew Walker make the bottlings based on their personal flavor preferences.

In October, Orkney Distillery partnered with a team of rowers to create Northwest Passage Expedition Gin. The offering will help fund the team’s expedition across the Arctic Ocean next year. Orkney Northwest Passage Expedition Gin is made with botanicals from the shores of Orkney and the Hudson Bay in Canada, including sugar kelp, angelica, ramanas rose and burnet rose. It is said to pay tribute to the explorers who sought to find a new route to Asia. The Northwest Passage is the sea route between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, and passes through the Arctic Ocean.
