Douglas Laing & Co has added a 26-year-old Macallan 1993 Vintage to its XOP The Black Series. The independent bottler launched its XOP The Black Series last year as an extension to its Xtra Old Particular Single Cask Scotch Whisky range.

Distilled in November 1993 at the Macallan distillery in Speyside, The Macallan 1993 Vintage and has been bottled at cask strength of 56.4% ABV.

According to the company, the Whisky features “a remarkably warm, amber colour and a flavour profile encompassing dried fruits, milk chocolate and honeyed barley.” Only 244 bottles of the spirit have been made available for purchase.

Each bottle has been filled by hand and features a glass stopper and embossed metal label incorporating the signatures of Fred Laing, Chairman of Douglas Laing & Co, and former Bruichladdich distiller Jim McEwan.

“Every note detected on the nose can be experienced on the palate and its magical Macallan, warm and generous, the pride of Speyside at its very best,” noted McEwan. “This is one of the most stately and elegant single malts I have experienced in my 56 years of making whisky.”

Douglas Laing & Co XOP The Black Series Macallan Vintage 1993 is available throughout Europe and Asia with an expected retail price of £2,150 ($2,700 USD) per 700ml bottle.

Earlier this year, Douglas Laing & Co continued an annual tradition with the release of a new Big Peat whisky for the Fèis Ìle festival, Big Peat 8 Years Old A846. This year’s bottling honors the A846, a “legendary” road that links whisky fans to distilleries across the Scottish island of Islay before steering up through Jura. “A journey along the A846 is a rite of passage for Islay whisky lovers, and a road that carries countless memorable moments for many,” explained Leggat. This year’s Feis Ile Festival was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
